The song deals with the similarities between the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the straining of the classic titan, Prometheus.

Shogun showcased a tack from Triviums habitual melodic themes of government activity and controversy, towards ancient Japanese and Greek Mythology. In context, Of Prometheus fits perfectly when mated with songs such as Torn among Scylla and Charybdis and He Who Spawn ed the Furies. Their debut album, Ember to Inferno (2003, Lifeforce Records), is a combination of metalcore emit and down-picked, thrash metal guitars.
