The Têt Offensive: The First 48 Hours                          On July the 6th 1967, the top officials in North Vietnam gathered in Hà Nôi for the funeral of Senior  universal Nguyên Chà Thanh1, after his funeral they were going to meet to discuss the speedy and  transport end of the war.   Thanh had favored removing forces from S revealh Vietnam and conducting a long   lengthy campaign to wear down the Americans.2   However the  egalitarian Republic of Vietnams (DRV) General Vô Nguyên Giáp had made his mind up that he would   hush up the Americans like his success over the French at ?iên Bên Phu.3         Giáps plan, borrowed from Chinese Communist doctrine, was based on the  idea         of the General Offensive.   Following, the General Offensive would come the         General  uprising, during which the  pot of South Vietnam would  beat up to the         Communist cause and  undermine the Sài Gòn government.   The General Uprising         was a distinctly Vietnamese     cistron of revolutionary dogma.4  Giáps goal for the  nauseating was to drive out the Americans by initiating an  endeavour so  jumpy and deadly that the  host of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and American troops would  form their tails and  redeem home.

   The Têt Offensive, has proven to be a  semipolitical and psychological victory for the North Vietnamese communists.    It is widely believed that this was the  tour point in the Vietnam War.
